Completion of any of the study programmes (that is, a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme or diploma study) offered by the Department of Product Design will provide the student with professional knowledge and skills for working in the fields of environmental design or product design.
The structure of subjects and engagement of professional supervisors offers each student an opportunity to develop his or her specialty-related manual skills, improve the knowledge of the contemporary principles of product management and the current laws of product markets. Furthermore, the Department offers the students, from the second study year on, opportunities to take part in actual projects in cooperation with Estonian companies, namely, at the moment, with "Thulema", "Steel Line", "Estoplast", "Lorup".

Short-term special projects instructed by teachers from abroad broaden the mind as well as introduce the teaching methods of European design schools and provide additional experience for competing in the international labour market as a designer.
The Department has close relations with several internationally recognised design universities and sending students to study in one of those for a semester has become a valuable custom.
During the last years we have given much attention to very specific subjects (compiling a portfolio, public relation strategies, presentation techniques, specialty electives) that supplement the creativity of the designer by providing the skills for working alone or in a team.

The Master’s programme includes many international projects in cooperation with foreign companies, schools and research centres.
MA students improve their education by studying for one semester in a European university chosen according to the preferences of the student. In addition to that, the Master’s programme provides a broader education in design theories.
