Ambition of performing art studies in Estonian Art Academy is to combine different fields of performing art into one intact spectacle and as well to offer alternative point of views to the fine art, theathre, dance, etc. Method of studies is creative synthesis and experimental practicies.

BA
Candidates to the performing art studies may have background in fine art but as well in any kind of performing art (performance, theathre, dance, circus, martial arts etc.). In entrance chat candidates can present their earlier works also in performing art fields and as well to express themselves in performance in entrance examination.

Program in BA studies:

  • First year – Introduction to performance art. Exercises which deal with human´s communication with another human, materia, space, and audience. As well to learn to control speed, rythm and dynamics of the action. Teahers: Erik Alalooga and Tanel Saar.
  • Second year – Trainings of body-and voice technics. Courses in kinetic art, sound art, performance art history. Performance to synthesize skills and knowledges acquired in previous courses.. Teachers: Mari Mägi, Anneliis Poll, Katrin Essenson, Gert Hatšukov, Andrus Kallastu, Tanel Saar and Erik Alalooga.
  • Third year (will be started since 2011/2012) – Behavior psychology. Performative action in public environment. Multimedia performance.

MA
MA studies in performing art deal with interdisciplinary performances more comprehensively and pays special attention to technological forms of expression.

Program in MA studies:

  • First year – Collaborative project with new media department. Interactive performance. Production of spectacle. Teachers: Erik Alalooga, Hans Gunter Lock, Taavet Jansen, Kaarel Oja.
  • Second year – Experimental project (technological theathre). Media relationships. Teachers: Andrus Laansalu, Sandra Jõgeva.
