SHRINKING TOWNS

Editors and designers: Mihkel Meriste, Hendrik Väli

In 2013/2014, the 4th-year students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Design continued the traditional curriculum with the residential building course extending over 2 terms. The first half of the course deals with the collective planning of a residential quarter in an urban environment while the second term is expected to yield a project of individual residential buildings with their immediate social infrastructure on the given site.

The title of the course work “Shrinking Towns” alludes to the recent tendency in the Estonian reginal policy – the shrinking number of residents in small towns.
