Vent Space project space – a joint project of Curatorial Studies and Masters of Contemporary Art
In the autumn of 2018, master students of curatorial studies and contemporary art curricula started working in the former premises of EAA Gallery (Vabaduse väljak 6/8) . The established initiative group started by developing a new concept for the use of the exhibition space in order to offer the official EAA Gallery, which moved to a new study building, an alternative with fast response capability, greater flexibility and accessibility. In addition to curating the program, the team has actively organized the day-to-day management and communication of the project space, also finding funding opportunities to cover production costs in cooperation with the EAA Student Council.
By now, the Vent Space team has reached the student-run project space, which provides public output for EAA students , having created a structural framework into which fellow students can create content. The aim is to provide both a safe environment for experimentation and a public outlet for presenting your work. Many students have gained the experience of the first solo exhibition, concerts, actions, discussion groups, workshops, group exhibitions, residencies, etc. have taken place.
In the 2019/2020 season, the focus of Vent Space is cooperation and co-creation. The internationalized team brings together different disciplines, media, practices and skills and encourages project authors to experiment more boldly, meet new people and create with them. From this season, with the help of the team of newly born writers, more emphasis will be placed on the coverage of events and exhibitions.
