EKA arhitektuuriteaduskonna avatud loengute sarjas esineb neljapäeval, 12. märtsil kell 18.00 John Frazer, Kanuti Gildi saalis (Pikk 20).
John Frazer on arhitekt, kes on nii õpetanud kui ka uurimistööd teinud nii arhitektuuri kui ka kunsti- ja disainikoolides. Cambridge’i ülikooli arhitektuuriosakonnas loenguid pidanuna käivitas ta seal (koos Alex Pikeiga) tehnilise uurimisüksuse (Technical Research Division, praegu osa Martin keskusest), kus uuris ehitise energiakasutust ja autonoomse hoonestuse teemat, võitis oma esimesed teadus-grandid ja juhendas oma esimesi doktorante. Ta on töötanud õppejõuna mitmel pool maailmas ja kirjutanud teadurina üle kahesaja raamatupeatüki ning artikli. Ta on olnud Hong Kongi disaininõukogu juhatuse liige, Hong Kongi kunsti- ja pärandimuuseumi kunstinõunik ning andnud panuse ehitatud keskkonna rakenduskavasse Austraalia valitsuse juures. Koos abikaasa Juliaga on neil oma nn arhitektuurikiirendi fond (Accelerating Architecture), mille fookus on interaktiivsete isetekkeliste, -organiseeruvate ja -toimivate süsteemide kavandamise ja loomise kunstil ja teadusel.
Arhitektuuriteaduskond kutsub Tallinnasse loengusarjale esinema maailmas tuntud arhitekte, teoreetikud, kriitikud ja urbaniste, et tutvustada arhitektuuri, disaini, linnaehituse ning kriitilise mõtte värskeid vaatenurki. Loengud on mõeldud nii arhitektuurivaldkonna tudengitele ja erialaga seotud professionaalidele, kui ka ruumikultuuri huviliste laiemale ringile. Loengud on inglise keeles ning tasuta.

12.03 John Frazer (London)
He trained as an architect and then taught and researched in both architecture and art and design schools. He started lecturing at Cambridge Department of Architecture where he also founded (with Alex Pike) the Technical Research Division (now part of the Martin Centre) where he researched energy in building and autonomous housing, won his first substantial research grants and supervised his first of many doctoral students. He has taught around the world and is author of over 200 book chapters and papers. Public recognition includes having been a Board Member for the Design Council of Hong Kong, and Art Advisor to the Art and Heritage Museum Hong Kong. More recently served on the Action Agenda for the built environment and other working parties for the Australian Government. He is Chair of the John and Julia Frazer Foundation for Accelerating Architecture where the focus is on the art and science of designing and creating self-generating, self-organising and self-sustaining systems, interacting and evolving with the users and the inhabitants in conjunction with the natural forces of the environment.
Quite a few well-known architects, theoreticians, critics and urbanists have given talks at this lecture series, to offer fresh perspectives on architecture, design, urban development and critical thought from around the globe. The lectures are open to all students and professionals in the fields of architecture, urbanism and other spatial studies, as well as to the broader circle of those interested in the future of our living environment. The lectures are in English and they are free of charge.
