Klaske Maria Havik, associate professor of Methods&Analysis at TU Delft, is an architect and writer. She writes regularly for architectural and literary magazines in the Netherlands and Nordic countries and is an editor of OASE, Journal for architecture. Poems of her hand have been published in a number of Dutch poetry collections. She is one of the initiators and contributors of the blog writingplace.org. Recently, Havik and Writingplace co-organized the interdisciplinary symposium series “The Story of the Netherlands”, viewing the Dutch built environment from a literary perspective. At Delft University of Technology, Klaske Havik introduced courses in architecture and literature in the master of architecture program. She has taught master diploma studio’s Public Realm and Border Conditions, exploring both the social role of architecture and the borders of the discipline, and she currently develops and teaches courses on methods, analysis and writing in the
BA, MA and PhD curriculum.
With Tom Avermaete and Hans Teerds, she edited the anthology “Architectural Positions: Architecture, Modernity and the Public Sphere” (SUN, 2009). Her dissertation “Urban Li teracy. A Scriptive Approach to the Experience, Use and Imagination of Place” (TU Delft, 2012) developed a literary approach to architecture and urban regeneration.
