FAQ

How can I find books, newspapers and magazines in the EKA library?

You can find what is available in the EKA Library via the e-catalogue ESTER. This is a joint catalogue of the major libraries in Estonia. See what you can find in the EKA library. See also the ESTER user guide.

The shelving in the reading room more or less follows the universal decimal classification (UDC).

Where can I find theses written by EKA students?

In The Digital Repository of EKA. Bound dissertations are available physically in the library and cannot be borrowed.

What if I can’t find the book I need?

Feel free to ask the librarian at the information desk.

Is there a list somewhere of all the foreign art and design magazines that have been ordered from the EKA library?

Yes, you can find it here. You can search ESTER to see which vintages and issues are available in the library.

How do I access foreign e-journals and e-books?

Check out the e-resources the EKA Library has acquired from our e-resources section. If you feel you need training and advice, sign up for user training.

What should I do if the EKA Library doesn’t have the book I need?

Check the Ester e-catalogue to see if it is available in another library in Tallinn or Estonia. If the catalogue shows that the book is not available in any library in Estonia, contact the library or submit the book suggestion form.

How to borrow, renew and return?

Read more about borrowing.

What happens if I’m late returning a book?

When the return deadline is approaching, the Ester e-catalogue will send you an automatic notification. If you feel you would like to still keep the book for longer, you can extend it yourself in My Ester (smart-id, mobile-id or id-card). However, if the deadline has already passed, you can only extend it by contacting the library directly by phone or e-mail. There is a late return fee of 0,05€ per day.

Can I use the EKA Library if I am not an EKA student or staff member?

The library is open to all interested persons during library opening hours. However, borrowing privileges are only available to users affiliated to EKA. Read more about borrowing.
