The Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) celebrates 20 years of animation education with a two-day conference titled “EKA ANIMA 20: Animating Knowledge.”

The word animation originates from the Latin anima, meaning soul and life, and animare, meaning to give life or breathe life into something. These are the two ideas we wish to bring together at this conference.

Twenty years of animation education at EKA may seem like a relatively short time, yet these years encompass countless people, ideas, experiments, films and stories. It is time to come together, reflect, celebrate and imagine the future!

Over two days, our alumni and invited guests Mari Koff, Taavi Varm, Léo Mourey, Christopher Galinos, Lyza Jarvis, Zane Oborenko and Mikk Mägi will share their ideas, creative experiences and knowledge through presentations.

The programme also includes the EKA Anima 20 seminar, led by John F. Quirk and Lilli-Krõõt Repnau, as well as discussions, T-shirt printing (bring your own T-shirt!), an Unreal Engine presentation and a few surprises.

We warmly invite all students, alumni, faculty members and friends of animation to come together, exchange ideas, reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, and celebrate 20 years of animation education at the Estonian Academy of Arts!

The conference is organised in collaboration with PÖFF Shorts.
