Maria Yudina has been a doctoral student and junior researcher at the Institute of Art History and Visual Culture since 2025. In the same year, she completed her Master’s degree at EKA with a thesis on the development of microrayons in the USSR. Before focusing on art history, Maria was trained as a linguist.
Her academic interests are related to architecture and architectural history — particularly Estonian architecture during the Soviet period, as well as art more broadly.
In her ongoing doctoral research, Maria focuses on the activities and professional everyday life of Estonian architects in the post-war years. In addition to visual-cultural analysis, she also approaches the topic from a linguistic perspective.
