The Department of Interior Architecture at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) is organising a summer school this summer as part of the Opinion Festival, where students will build a stage for the festival. The summer school will take the form of an Erasmus BIP workshop involving more than 20 students from the Estonian Academy of Arts, Riga Technical University, Vilnius Art Academy, Lviv National Academy of Arts, as well as students from outside of Europe: Kanazawa College of Art and Sanjo City University (Japan) and University of the Arts Singapore.
As the Opinion Festival writes on its homepage it is a meeting place for all layers of society, giving a platform for different worldviews. Its mission is to improve debate culture and civic education. The Festival is free of charge and open to everyone in Estonia and beyond who would like to discuss and tackle issues that matter for all of us.
The summer school will take place in Paide from 1st to 11th of August. Participation is free of charge and students will receive 3 ECTS credit points. Free accommodation will be provided in a local school building, and three hot meals a day are guaranteed. The summer school will be supervised by Loora Arro, Päär-Joonap Johan Kirsimäe and Johannes Säre. Students’ travel costs are covered by Erasmus+ short-term mobility scholarship.
In the summer school’s stage construction, we will weave together wood, existing materials from previous years and modular stage techniques to create something that can be used in the years to come.
