Looking for Common Space Worksop

Looking for Common Space

EKA MA students’ project workshop “Looking for a Common Space” opens on Friday 04.09 12PM at room A403.

Estonian Academy of Arts students are collectively in a search for a communal space where they can socialize, relax and get inspired.

“Where has the inspiring atmosphere, collective and belonging feeling gone that was so characteristic to Estonian Art Academy before?” the sudents ask. Contemporary art students look at these concerns and transform a classroom into a comfortable space. Because the university building is struggling with space, the only possibility of having a student area is to approach the need through academic matter, applying for a room embodying a workshop. To make the workshop accord to its nature, an ironic program has been put together.

The project raises a question: what measures have to be taken in order to get a space for students where they can relax, meet new people, share experiences and let loose of the academic atmosphere?

A two week workshop period is opened to all EKA students till 18.09.

Participating artists: Sindey Lepp, Johannes Luik, Nusrat Jahan, Ott Lemsaar, Tõnis Laurson
