EKA’s Intensive Estonian Language and Culture Course Takes Place for the 20th Time

Estonian language course in 2024

EKA is once again organising its Intensive Estonian Language and Culture Course for new international degree students and Erasmus+ exchange students before the start of the academic year. This year marks the 20th edition of the course, continuing a long-standing tradition of supporting international students as they settle into life in Estonia and take their first steps in learning the Estonian language and culture.

Organised by EKA’s International Office, the course takes place over three consecutive weeks before the beginning of the academic year. Participants are divided into at least four study groups and taught by experienced Estonian language teachers. Language learning is combined with a cultural programme that helps students gain a deeper understanding of Estonian society, everyday life, and cultural traditions.

Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the course is offered free of charge to participants. Throughout the intensive programme, students develop practical communication skills while learning about Estonian culture, customs, and daily life.

The course is designed to support participants in reaching A1-level proficiency in Estonian by the start of the academic year. This enables students to manage basic everyday situations and feel more confident in their new study and living environment.

Over the past two decades, hundreds of international students from around the world have participated in the course.
