
EKA announces the Autumn Call for applications for EKA Research Fund support. Funding may be applied for by the academy’s structural units, staff members, and doctoral students. Application calls to the Research Fund will take place twice a year. The deadline for the current call is 14 September 2026. This spring, a total of €50,000 has been allocated for distribution, with the minimum grant amount set at €1,000.
Funding from the EKA Research Fund may be applied for to develop and strengthen research and development activities as well as knowledge transfer, including:
- development of research fields and research groups,
- initiation of new research fields,
- ensuring the stability of research activities,
- project preparation and covering self-financing requirements,
- travel-costs related to research,
- supporting business cooperation and activities with societal impact, and
- publishing, disseminating, and popularizing research results.

Priority will be given to applications that, among other things:
- integrate research and teaching activities,
- involve workshops,
- engage early-career researchers (MA and PhD students),
- promote national, international, inter-faculty, and interdepartmental cooperation,
- have secured or applied for co-funding from other sources, and
- contribute to increasing EKA’s research base funding volume as a result of the planned activities.
Application process:
- EKA staff must submit their application via the WebDesktop document management system: Add new > Applications and requests > EKA grant applications > Research Fund application (2 x annually). Link to the application form HERE.
- Doctoral students without access to WebDesktop must submit their application via Google Forms. Link to the application form HERE.
Applications will be evaluated by the EKA Research Council at its meeting on 22 September, and applicants will be informed of the decision by email no later than three working days after the council’s decision.
