An outdoor area named “EKA SIIN” (EKA HERE) was opened at Kotzebue 2. EKA students constructed an open urban landscape on the site using leftover materials.
At the same time, the “Met(s)aRing” outdoor classroom—created by PAKK, the EKA Centre of Competence in Timber Architecture—was opened.
“EKA SIIN” is a co-creation project driven by the aim and enthusiasm to showcase the identity and substance of EKA in the school’s immediate surroundings.
“EKA SIIN” represents a comprehensive vision for the Estonian Academy of Arts’ outdoor area; it strengthens the school’s presence in the urban landscape and allows creative work to spill out from the school building into the courtyard. The initial focus of this process is the Kotzebue 2 site, which is slated to host a new EKA building in the long term.
