We invite EKA doctoral students – from their 3rd year of study onwards – to propose ideas for a short online course that they would like to lead themselves for students, researchers, and academic staff across the Transform4Europe (T4EU) network. The course must focus on science communication – how to make sense of and share research, knowledge, and ideas beyond one’s immediate field of expertise.
We are particularly interested in ideas that draw on your own research, methods, or professional practice and offer people from other disciplines new ways of communicating their research. We are looking for three ideas for three courses.
Possible topics could include, for example, visual science communication, using art and design methods to communicate and unpack scientific knowledge, communicating research through objects, materials, or space, speculative methods and future scenarios, engaging different audiences or any other aspect of science communication that you have something to teach others about.
Importantly, the course should not be a presentation of your doctoral research. Participants should come away with knowledge, methods, or tools that they can apply to communicating their own research. You can also involve participants in discussions as part of the course—this can be useful both for you and for the participants.
How?
The courses must be held in English and online for students, researchers, or academic staff at T4EU partner universities. You can also choose to focus on one or more specific audience groups. According to the T4EU format, the workshop should take place over 2–3 days, for 2–4 hours per day. The days do not have to be consecutive; up to one week may pass between workshops/lectures. The course can take place entirely online or in a hybrid format. We will work out the exact structure together with you—you do not need to have a fully developed course in order to apply.
NB! You can apply individually or as a group. Previous teaching or training experience is an advantage, but is not a prerequisite.

- what participants will learn or gain from the training
- when you would like to run the course
- your name, doctoral research topic, and year of study
Fee for delivering the course: €50/hour gross (including both the course and preparation)
