The art competition seeks a public enriching artwork for the outdoor space between the EKA buildings on Kotzebue Street or on the Kotzebue 2 plot, which should be suitable for the given environment in terms of both the choice of materials and thematic approach.
The competition is aimed at the 2026 graduates of the Estonian Academy of Arts. A total of two grants of 2,500–3,000 euros will be awarded to cover production costs. The jury reserves the right to redistribute the grant amount if necessary. Receiving the grant entails the obligation to exhibit the work in the vicinity of the EKA for two years. If the work is suitable, the artwork will be considered for acquisition into the EKA collection.
The application must include:
- a completed application form
- a portfolio introducing previous work
The deadline for submitting applications is February 8, 2026.
The artwork should be created for the outdoors, but there are no restrictions on technique and materials. It should also be taken into account that the work should exist for a minimum of two years and the artwork should allow for a change of location if necessary. The works must be completed by the deadline for the preliminary defense of the final theses, in the spring of 2026. See the statute for more detailed competition conditions.
