The CIRRUS/Nordplus network will gather at the Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavík from 25–28 March 2026 for a leadership meeting titled “Leading Meaning, Not Just Institutions.”
The meeting will bring together leaders from design departments across Nordic and Baltic art universities, creating a shared space for reflection on the purpose of education in a rapidly changing world. Rather than focusing on management and operations, the programme is designed as a think tank, emphasising dialogue, critical thinking, and long-term orientation.
Structured around three guiding questions—purpose, context, and priorities—the programme invites participants to reflect on what education should stand for today, what kind of world students are entering, and what should be valued and prioritised in the future.
Invited contributors include Kristján Leósson, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, and Eva Harðardóttir, who will bring perspectives from science, politics, and educational philosophy into the shared discussions.
The CIRRUS secretariat is based at the EKA International Office, where Sandra Mell coordinates all CIRRUS activities. The network is chaired by former dean and researcher Ruth Melioraski.
