Under the leadership of Sille Pihlak, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, a discussion on the contemporary development and visions of Slovak and Estonian architecture was held on September 29. The discussion was attended by Professor of Architecture Ján Studený, Head of Studio III; Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Marcel Benčík; PhD student of the Faculty of Architecture Lukáš Mráz, and AFAD graduate architect Petra Ďurišková.
At the same time the landscape/nature/architecture exhibition of students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava was opened.
The representatives of the University of Art and Design in Bratislava introduce: “The exhibition presents selected student projects from Studio A3. These works explore the relationship between landscape, nature and architecture and are conceived as conceptual visions of architecture, reflecting environmental and technological challenges. The projects are derived from natural and landscape processes, which we treat as a basis for our work.
Our research develops within a broader context of environmental, technological and societal shifts. The projects are mainly conceptual explorations – a way to test ideas, question conventions, and open new perspectives. By doing so, we aim to broaden architectural thinking, using landscape, natural processes and the physical world as a primary framework. We see this as especially relevant today, when AI and digital technologies are rapidly evolving, and when keeping architecture grounded in the physical environment is essential for its future relevance.”
The meeting was opened by EKA Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Anne Pikkov and the Ambassador of Slovakia H.E. Mr. Dušan Krištofík. The exhibition and event are organized by The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Helsinki, led by the Cultural Diplomacy Organizer Adriana Krštofíková.
