The nominees for the Estonian National Research Awards have now been announced, highlighting best research from the past four years (2022–2025). National Research Awards are granted to Estonian researchers and research teams for outstanding results in research and development.
At the Estonian Academy of Arts, we are delighted about the nomination of Hilkka Hiiop, Anneli Randla, Andres Uueni, Varje Õunapuu, and Hannes Vinnal in the field of the humanities and arts for their series of transdisciplinary research projects in technical art history and heritage that they have led over the past four years.
Estonian National Research Awards are awarded by the Government of Estonia upon the proposal of the Minister of Education and Research, based on recommendations from the National Research Awards Committee. In 2026, the awards will be presented at a formal ceremony on 18 February at Estonian Statehood House. This year marks the 36th time the national science awards are granted.
Proposals for nominees for the awards can be submitted each year by the academic decision-making bodies of research and development institutions, universities, and accredited applied higher education institutions, by members of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, by the Estonian Young Academy of Sciences, as well as by the Estonian Employers’ Confederation, the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Estonian Service Industry Association.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for our colleagues!
