For the first time, everyone interested in design has the opportunity to read Leida in print, as Leida Reader. Fifteen Selected Articles has been published. The book compiles articles from the online journal Leida, established by the Faculty of Design at the Estonian Academy of Arts and published between 2022–2024.
“The publication of Leida Reader cannot be underestimated, as there is very little written about designing – especially in Estonian,” says the Dean of the EKA Faculty of Design Ruth-Helene Melioranski. “Leida Reader presents texts on design in a new and cohesive way, aiming to sensitively and critically expand our understanding of contemporary design issues.”
“This is a significant event in the context of contemporary Estonian design. It highlights how important, necessary, and timely it is to interpret and reflect on design – both in higher education and more broadly in society and culture,” says Leida Editor-in-Chief and one of the editors of the reader, Taavi Hallimäe. “Leida is a collective undertaking, to which many people have contributed – too many to thank individually here.
