EKA / T4EU podcast: „Keeping the Church in the Village. Navigating the Core of Our Built Heritage“

What holds communities together at a time when traditional social pillars—religion, work, and a shared media landscape—are undergoing profound changes? Estonian Academy of Arts Professor of Service Design Jörn Frenzel and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture Gregor Taul explore this for the fresh episode of the Transform4Europe podcast Reach Out, recorded at the Estonian Academy of Arts in front of a live audience.

The discussion explores the development of European town centres, the contemporary role of churches and industrial heritage, and the future of shrinking rural areas and abandoned industrial sites. At its core lies the question of which spaces and shared values might sustain the communities of tomorrow.

Transform4Europe (T4EU) is an alliance of ten European universities that promotes international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared learning opportunities. Students and academic staff can participate in activities organised by partner universities and develop interdisciplinary projects. One such initiative is the Reach Out podcast, which brings conversations and developments from across the alliance to a wider audience. The alliance is united by shared values, including sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme.
