From Nov 12-14 the Final Conference of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Liveability Project took place in the Railway Museum in the heart of Riga. Over two days, local and international speakers delivered cutting edge content on community led public interest design and municipalities co-creating cities with the public sector. A prominent part of the programme was reserved for presentations of the content and solutions that were delivered by the project partners.
The project, which ran from 2023 to 2025, was directly addressing Baltic region municipalities and delivered on outcomes such as a Liveability Charter, a Practice Guide and a Training Programme. EKA contributed to the Charter, the Network and Label of the project as well as a Training Programme and Local Learning Days for partners and newcomer cities.
Ruth-Helene Melioranski (principal investigator), Hedi Meigas (coordinator) and Jörn Frenzel (research and city mentoring) were representing EKA at the event. Prof. Frenzel co-presented the Training Programme with Harri Sippola (cultural producer) and Petri Haavisto (artist and pilot implementer) of the City of Pori, stressing the journey from “training” to “learning” and a programme created by the liveability network for the liveability network.
