Call for applications: EKA admissions 2026

Starting February 1, 2026, the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) invites applications to its international Master’s and PhD programmes in art, design, architecture, and art culture.

EKA offers eight international Master’s programmes: Animation MAContemporary Art MACraft Studies MAGraphic Design MAInteraction Design MAUrban Studies MScLiterature, Visual Culture & Film Studies MA (joint programme with TLU), and Service Design Strategies and Innovation MA (joint programme with AAL and the University of Lapland).

The international Master’s programmes are designed for artists and designers aiming to develop and enrich their individual practice through cross-disciplinary investigations. EKA encourages bold experimentation, and students are able to take courses and workshops beyond their specializations. The curricula are constructed in such a way as to cultivate students’ analytical abilities and critical thinking, fostering environmentally and socially conscientious creators.

The teaching language for the Master’s programmes is English, and the duration is two years. Tuition fees range from 2,000 euros to 4,200 euros per year.

The application deadline for the Master’s programmes is March 2, 2026, at 3pm (EET). Studies will begin on August 24, 2026. Upcoming online info sessions for applicants and prospective students can be found here.

In addition to the Master’s programmes, EKA also accepts applications for four doctoral programmes: Architecture and Urban Planning PhDArt and Design PhDArt History and Visual Culture PhDCultural Heritage and Conservation PhD.

Prospective PhD applicants are invited to attend an online info session about doctoral studies at EKA on February 11 at 3pm EET via Zoom. The application deadline for PhD programmes is March 31, 2026, at 3pm (EET).

Students are encouraged to make use of the various facilities at EKA, including professional photography and sound studios, workshops for wood- and metalworking, 3D modelling, textile, glass, ceramics, printmaking, and many more.
